Holy Spirit Empowerment

WARNING: This may take some extra time to study and to take in. Please do not skip this day or take it light-heartedly. This is essential for us to be ALL OUT this year for Him.

So we know that if we are going to be ALL OUT for God, we cannot do it without the empowerment of God. Jesus knew that the disciples (all of them, including us) would need Him – the Holy Ghost – to be the driving force inside of us.

Acts 1:8 KJV
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Now power translated from the original Greek comes from the word dunamis, which is where we get our word dynamite. Dunamis means:

Specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself)

Okay, I have to comment how beautiful I think it is that it is a miracle in itself! We are so blessed! Think on that for a while right now. You are so special that the Spirit’s empowerment in your life is your own miracle to experience.

Furthermore, here is what the Spirit’s empowerment provides:

Ability, abundance, meaning, might, mighty deeds, workers of miracles, power, strength, violence, mighty wonderful work.

This is for the Church, for the body of believers who trust in Jesus Christ as Lord. Those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior have so much more to experience.

  • We have His ability.
  • We are to walk in His abundance.
  • We are to be workers of miracles.
  • We can have the strength we need to finish.
  • We can experience this same violent, mighty wind that changed their lives forever.

I get excited writing these words and I am praying we all experience this at a different level in 2019 as we lay everything down before Him.

You see, God wanted them to have seamless oneness. He knew there was only one way--a special, set-apart moment in time that He had prepared for them.

Acts 2:1a KJV
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come…

All the Israelites were gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the day that God intervened for them and set them free from Egypt. He set them free from slavery and bondage, and released them to walk forward to the Land of Promise.

You have to understand, God has gone before us and prepared 2019 to be a year where we are to be done with the bondages of the past. We are done with being slaves to sin and to the ways of the world. He is releasing His people to move into the Land of Promise He has pre-ordained. He is moving His people into where they are operating at a different place with Him at the center. But let us look at how it begins. Look at the next part of this scripture:

Acts 2:1b KJV
…they were all with one accord in one place.

Stop! There is a miracle happening here. They have reached a place where they are all in one accord. They were UNANIMOUS in their desire. Their desire was to HAVE THAT WHICH HAD BEEN PROMISED TO THEM, THE HOLY GHOST.

Note that they were in ONE PLACE.

This is the power of the corporate meeting place, the Church that meets within the walls. Its purpose is to push past the outer courts and enter into the place where everyone, together as one, goes ALL OUT after what GOD wants. We are one heart, one sound, one desire.

We are as one pushing forward for the promise.

We are pushing into prayer until our voices became a choir that floods Heaven with cries from deep within wanting more than we have ever experienced before.

You see, Church, that changes what Church looks like.

Of course, I know the importance of the 5-fold ministers (apostle, prophet, pastor, teacher and evangelist to bring their gifts and knowledge and teaching to perfect the saints for the work of service) and I am not minimizing that at all.

But the New Testament disciples had to change the world. And so do we! We have to go ALL OUT for Him. And this is it! This is where it began and where it will happen again.

There is a Promised Land for us. We are to be those people that represent Him as we show UNITY. We know that He wants generation to generation to generation to experience Him in the fullness of ALL He is.

This watered-down representation of what most people call church, where we do not have a voice of power and the strength of speaking the truth of love, was never His intention.

A seeker-friendly Church must be a friend of HIS. We must seek His heart and walk in power to seek the lost and the broken. It is when His heart breaks forth in your heart that it will also break out of your mouth from deep within.

Just as it happened at the beginning of the Church, so He has prepared it for you to experience as well:

Acts 2:2 KJV
And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

When the Bible says it filled the house, this is what actually happened according to the original translation:

  • To make replete (replete means to fully or abundantly provide and fill)
  • To furnish, influence, satisfy, execute an office, finish, complete, end, expire, fill up, fulfil, be full, fully preach, perfect, supply

I know that is a lot to take in, but let me make this as simple as I can.

It ended the Old Testament law and released to His disciples the Promised Land of being able to be satisfied with knowing Him and allowing the Holy Spirit to complete in them ALL that they could never do themselves. He was their supplier.

Their push to be ALL IN gave them His entrance into their lives, and He empowered them to go ALL OUT.

We can’t do this in our own power. Period.

We must have the power of unity. We must have the power of intercession. We must have the power of the Holy Spirit as we yield to Him, knowing He is the PROMISE of Heaven that will accompany us.

The Holy Spirit is not spooky. He is a person. He is the third person of the Trinity. He is what every person needs who wants God to have His way on the earth.

The role of the Holy Spirit is a continuation of the work of God the Father and Jesus the Son in the life of the believer.

He is an essential companion of every Christian and He is the guarantee and means by which we persevere to the point of reaching Heaven.

When God rescued Israel from Egypt, He did it so they would become His people and He would become their God. This understanding that God always wanted to dwell with His people is crucial. In the first “Church” of the Bible, God continued to dwell with His people, first in the tabernacle, and then in the temple.

In John Chapter 1, Jesus is described as God’s Word who is God, and who became man and dwelt with us. He gathered around Him His disciples who became the first “Christians.”

On the eve of His death, He gathered with them and spoke to them about His departure (John 13-16). But immediately, Jesus promised them another companion (or counselor) would take His place and be with them forever—the Holy Spirit (John 14:15-31).

The Spirit would dwell with them and in them. The Spirit would teach them and remind them of what Jesus taught them and make it come alive within them to another level.

This is, of course, what we are discussing today. It happened on this day of Pentecost, with astonishing results.

The disciples were turned from a few frightened people into the people who courageously proclaimed the news of Jesus, despite any conflicts that would happen.

They were fearless as the Spirit dwelled in them and enabled them. It is by the Holy Spirit that God (the Father and the Son) becomes real within us. He continues to teach us and help us to stay true to Him. That is why we need the Holy Spirit.

And much more:

  • The Spirit teaches and convicts us of the truth and assures us that we are saved (1 John 3:24, 2 Cor. 1:22, Eph. 1:13; 4:30).
  • It is the Spirit in our lives that unites us to Christ in His death and resurrection (Rom. 6:1-11, Gal. 2:20).
  • Being “in Christ” by the Spirit secures our completeness (Col. 2:9-10).
  • Being “in Christ” by the Spirit unites us with others (1 Cor. 12:12-13, Eph. 4:4-6).
  • He empowers us to do what is right, live in faith and do good works (Romans 7:18, Eph. 2:4-10).
  • It is always God’s work in us that means that we are saved in Christ and living new lives for Him. It is the Spirit that makes Christians aware of their sin and empowers them to turn away in repentance.
  • It is the Spirit who distinguishes us from unbelievers (Eph. 2:12, 1 Cor. 15:21) and empowers us for our mission in the world (Acts 2:1).

The Spirit is an essential part of the Christian life, for it is HE who helps us to understand the Word of God and live it out in our lives.

I have teachings on this, and I would be glad to send you materials if you need them to be able to understand more.

If you would like me to pray for you, and you are local, I would be glad to pray with you to receive this Holy Spirit empowerment. If you are not local and desire more, and would like to have someone pray with you on the phone, you can call our office and we would be glad to minister to you and send you materials as well.

Let Us Pray:

Jesus,

You are the one that instructed us to be empowered by the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. We want that empowerment because we recognize our need to stay ALL IN with Your heart and go ALL OUT with Your empowerment. So we ask that You put inside of us a fervency for more. We pray and ask for the Holy Spirit to come and manifest Himself to us. We pray that He would overflow out of us in such a way it changes us and changes cities and changes the world! We want and we NEED this empowerment to be Your Church the way You designed it. So we wait upon You.

Amen.

Now please study the scriptures so you know it’s all true. And then worship God and ask for the Holy Spirit to fill you to the overflow. It is a wonderful experience that will help you be who God has always intended for you to be. I love Him so much. And I love you so much.
