CONNECT PEOPLE TO GOD – WORD AND DEED 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. – Luke 9:11 Connecting others to God is more than just a statement of clarity, it is a call to action.  Jesus never made statements that were void of responsibility to respond.  His intention was never to have a list of amazing one-liners in a book so that people could later read them and say, “Wow!”  He declared the truths of the Kingdom and then demonstrated those truths in real life power.  He was not only interested in declaring right Theology to lost humanity, He wanted to connect them to the Father of the Theology He preached. In like manner, we have a mandate to walk in His steps.  If we intend to truly connect others to God, it will become necessary for us to live a life that reflects completely the Theology we believe.  The early church saw the relevance of this truth and prayed an amazing prayer that brought that truth into their reality. 29 Now, Lord, look on their threats,

CONNECT PEOPLE TO GOD – LOVE INSTEAD OF JUDGE How easy it is to make up your mind about someone or something.  This is especially true when driving on the crazy roads of South Florida.  How many times has someone cut you off, forgot to use a turning signal, or just plain didn’t see you driving along minding your own business?  The nerve of these drivers!  How did they ever pass their driving test?  If you could read people’s lips, I am sure you would “hear” angry words are too unrighteous to repeat in a “Holy” fasting guide such as this. On the roadways, everyone seems to be so quick to judge the worth, capabilities, and mental status of drivers that are less talented than themselves when it comes to driving.  In fact, those crazy drivers are probably not as good as they are at anything since they drive so poorly.  Although this may seem like an extreme example, our capacity to judge another can be similarly steeped in an emotional response that it causes people to run from God rather than to Him.  A perfect depiction of this is found in the story of the woman caught in adultery.

CONNECT PEOPLE TO GOD – PRIVATE PUBLIC MATTERS Have you ever heard anyone say something like this, “Religion is a private matter?”  I know I have.  Not sure why some feel that way, because it appears that God is very public about Himself throughout Scripture.  The more you look into the actions of God, the more you find Him. His actions were purposeful, so that we can know who He is and what He stands for. He is not a private God! Jesus was not private about His “religion” either.  He made sure that what was happening in the context of His relationship with the Father was demonstrated.  One example of this is found during His time of prayer on top of a mountain. 28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. 30 And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 But Peter and those with

CONNECT PEOPLE TO GOD – TRANSPARENT LIFE Christianity, at times, feels like it is a social club filled with people that have it all together.  Every “how are you” is met with a “Great, Praise the Lord” response that appears somewhat disingenuous and robotic in form. The reality is, however, that Christians have bad days to.  When we do have those bad days, we sometimes feel the pressure to hide those moments to show the world that God is good all the time and that we are always living from a state of victory. We need to understand that being transparent about having a bad day or overcoming a challenging circumstance, can have a very powerful effect on those watching our lives.  All of a sudden, we become human to humanity and that makes us relatable individuals who live in the same world as they do. The writer of Hebrews describes Jesus’ entrance into the world like this: 15 For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing

CONNECT PEOPLE TO GOD – KEEPING YOUR HEART PURE AS YOU PRAY AND LOVE OTHERS FOR GOD We are living in exciting times as we see God fulfilling His plan for the culmination of all things. In fact, as Holy Spirit presses on the earth more urgently, He is supernaturally opening the eyes and hearts of many to bring a revelation of who Jesus is. He is also opening our hearts and minds to who we are—one with Him.   Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 1 John 4:17 NKJV   We have always considered that our boldness in the Day of Judgment was because God has given us mercy and grace. But another perspective is that because we are with Christ, we speak and act with boldness on His behalf—releasing His perfect love into the world so that they too will be ready for that day. Love has been perfected in us!   He has called each of us to be ministers—ambassadors for Him. He has entrusted us with the “ministry of reconciliation,” and we are boldly

CONNECT PEOPLE TO GOD – COMPELLED TO ACTION As followers of Christ, our hearts are being changed and our lives are also changed. We desire even more of Him. In His presence, we experience more of His love, more of His power and more of His heart for others. Walking out true discipleship means we are to have faith that takes action. 14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:14-17 NIV As we step out in faith action, we will have compassion for those around us. Compassion is the love of God for others and it always compels us to action. Love acts like something. Love becomes something real as it takes action by stepping out and confronting the situation at hand. The love of

CONNECT PEOPLE TO GOD – GREAT GRACE During this time of our fast, we are going to look at connecting people to God through the life of the One who modeled it for us perfectly, Jesus Christ. It was the Son of God’s life mission to engage with lost humanity in a way that drew them to His Father. His mandate is stated so clearly in His own words: “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.” – Luke 4:43 ESV This good news is all about a restoration of that which was lost in the Garden of Eden. In the Garden, relationship between God and man was at its best. Love was the core of all action and interaction. There was a holy alliance between Heaven and Earth that was working together to spread the Glory of the Father throughout the newly created world!  Life, adventure, purpose, love! Though this was lost because of the price of sinful choices, Jesus came to restore all of this to everyone who would accept what He released to them – divine love when they accept Him

CONNECT TO PEOPLE – EFFECTIVE PRAYER FOR YOUR LOVED ONES AND THOSE YOU INFLUENCE   First of all, let me encourage you with the fact that God makes all prayers of faith in Him hit the mark every time. It is just as if the arrow was flying and an angel causes it hit the bullseye, or the rock was slung and an angel causes it hit the giant in the forehead. It is not your exact words, but what is in your heart that counts—and the heart that is fixed on Him, won’t just connect to Him, but will be able to connect to others!   There are people and nations waiting on you to fulfill your part. As you release love to them, pray for them, and show kindness, you are revealing a heart of God to them and it will make a deposit inside of them!   Paul has a beautiful prayer in Ephesians 1 that will open your eyes regarding how to pray and give you confidence that you can first connect to others through a prayer of faith. It will be effective and make a path to reach those whom you pray for. You will
