ALL OUT – What About Me?

You are probably asking, “What about me?” As you pursue God’s heart, He will give you the desires of your heart. That is scriptural, you know.

Psalm 37:4-5 NKJV
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

We tend to think that if we go ALL OUT, all we’ll do is give out. It is human nature (which we are working on surrendering ALL to God) to want to know how it will benefit us.

But GOD will always benefit us when we obey Him. You can’t out-give Him. In fact, when you give to Him and when you give in the way He directs us in His Word, you can count on Him to bring you the answers and the desires you have.

Our God is an amazing, personal God for YOU.

I remember the days my children said to me for the first time, “I love you.” Oh my goodness, my heart melted! I had wanted to hear it. I knew it, but I wanted to hear it from their lips. I wanted a hug to go with it (which I got)! And I understood that was what Daddy God was waiting for also!

He doesn’t want us to just attend church. He wants us to tell Him we love Him. He wants us to hug Him, and to enjoy the embrace. Just like I would give anything for my children to be healthy and to have their needs met and more it is also the nature of our God. In fact, that is where we get it.

But what God also wants of YOU this year, is to realize that He is calling you to Himself, so that you will lose your SELF in Him. He wants you to realize that you are a part of something so much bigger and greater than you could imagine on your own. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, you have been joined to Him. To HIM, can you imagine?

I pray today that you will begin to understand your own importance. You are chosen. You were intended by Him to do great things. And I don’t mean just go to Harvard (although it’s not a bad GOAL, it is not eternal). You can use that which you learn at higher places of learning to open doors, but at the end of the day, you have been chosen to be LOVED and to share HIS love with others. This is the true victory. This is the most satisfying thing of all.

While you have been fasting, I pray that you have felt Him near you, and changing you and rearranging you. He has been touching you so deeply that you are now recognizing that you are being healed and built up to be a productive person who will make a difference now and throughout eternity.

This is what I know God wants from us. We can’t go ALL OUT until we EMPTY ALL OUT before Him.

James 1:17-18
17 Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].
18 And it was of His own [free] will that He gave us birth [as sons] by [His] Word of Truth, so that we should be a kind of first fruits of His creatures [a sample of what He created to be consecrated to Himself].

Do you understand that you are a good gift that God has created? Do you see that you are His and that He created YOU to be consecrated to HIM?

This is a year we are going to be challenged to FOCUS, which means:

  • Center of activity, attraction and directed attention
  • A point of concentration
  • A state of condition permitting clear perception and understanding

This means it is time to be HUNGRY for HIM and to get addicted to what He is addicted to. Everything else will lose its savor for you, because the more you know His love, the more of it you want to know. The more you experience, the more you know others need it also.

The closer you get to Him, the more you want to share everything you find with Him, because you see their desperation for something real. For something of substance.

You are called to love Jesus well and to love others with His love.

God is emphasizing purity. And it will take you being with Him by choice not just on Sunday, not just someday but every day. It will take you being with Him continually, without regrets or complaining, or setting Him aside.

Romans 2:4 NKJV
Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

And do you know what happened? Just that.

Acts 2:41 KJV
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

You can’t even get to where you are going if you don’t know who you are. You can’t know who you are until you come face to face with His grace and His goodness. And boom! Then you find yourself seeing yourself through different eyes.

You are amazing! You are a son or daughter of God, mouthpiece for the Lord, carrier of God’s presence! You are an answer to others’ prayers. You are a container God chose to fill up with His very heart and love.

We cannot do this on our accord. We can only be holy by His holiness. But oh, how wonderful to be able to love Him who loved us so much, and be included in His plan to help others!

There needs to be a time and place that you set aside. Whether it’s your shower, your closet, or your living room chair, where you shut out every other thing but Him and His Word. This is where you start out your day with gratitude from your heart, where you tell Him that you appreciate Him, and love on Him until He comes.

I am not talking about “feeling” Him. I am talking about “knowing” Him at a different level than you ever thought you could. Jesus spent time daily with the Father. He is our example.

We need to do more than attend church to know HIM. We need to SEEK Him to know Him on a personal level. Then we will become His firebrands--aggressively promoting the cause of Christ!

So here are some practical things I know will help you:

  1. Insist on your time with Him.
  2. Let Him know you love Him and are grateful.
  3. Be real before Him (He doesn’t care if you know how to pray the way you think is “right;” He just wants you to spend time talking to Him).
  4. Be still and listen. God is always talking. It takes practice to distinguish His voice from yours and from the enemy’s, but after a little while, it will be crystal clear.
  5. Journal—I don’t care if it is on paper or on your phone or on your computer. The things He will share with you will change your life, and you don’t want to forget any of them. He also will tell you how to reach others, where to go, what to do, how to live your life to its fullest.
  6. Pray with others. That is actually how leaders are grown.
  7. Never stop doing these things.
  8. Share with others the great things of God you have learned NOT to brag, but to help them. It will help you to learn to present them in love, for their sake, and it will help you remember better.
  9. Pray in the spirit (If you don’t have this gift, refer to Day 16).
  10. Of course, I could go on and on. Keep going on!

Though this sounds like a lot, this list really isn’t a lot. However, it is life giving. It is necessary and it is the best thing you could ever do to find joy and peace and love.

Enjoy today, enjoy this worship and let your journey begin! This part is all about YOU as you come to know HIM.

Love you all so much.
