Favorite Things About Abba Father

“Abba” is an Aramaic word for father. Some historical accounts mentioned it was used by Jesus and Paul to address God in a relation of personal intimacy. “Abba” is what a little child will passionately call “Daddy”. While “Father” could be seen as that most revered figure; “Daddy” is more like a big teddy bear whose shoulders are just snuggles of comfort away.

God wants us to see and relate with him with the boldness and trust a little child calls “Daddy”. Jesus in the scriptures (Matthew 7:9-11) rhetorically asked that – which earthly father would rather give his son a stone when he asks for bread,

or a snake when he asks for fish. If an earthly father who could be imperfect knows how to give good gifts to their children, how much more would our heavenly father give good gifts to those who ask of him?

Even the most evil of fathers would get vulnerable to the request of their little baby at the sound of “DADDY”! You know God seeks such pure intimacy with us – as his children as well.

Go ahead and “ABBA” him up this week and always! Happy fathers’ day!
