2017 Fasting Guide – Day Thirteen

Guess what? You are equipped to do exploits!

… but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. - Daniel 11:32b NKJV

To live equipped for amazing exploits, we must be aware of the upside-down Kingdom of God. Jesus could have done anything on the last night before they came to take Him away and lead Him to His crucifixion. But He chose the best thing. To train His disciples to think upside-down:

12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. - John 13:12-15 NKJV

To go up, you must go down. You cannot think highly of yourself, but instead think highly of being a servant. Be looking for opportunities to be a blessing, not just receive a blessing. JESUS washed His disciples’ feet. They didn’t even think of washing His feet. They were caught up in their own world and they were insensitive to His needs. If we are to be equipped for the outrageous, SUPERNATURAL things that have been assigned for us to do, we must operate in a spirit of servanthood and humility. If we are to represent Jesus well on this earth, we must be willing to not only pray and teach and lay hands on the sick, but we must also be willing to touch people with a heart of compassion and meet their smallest needs as well as their apparent larger needs. Jesus is looking for those who will serve, not looking for a title, or a fancy position.

16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. -
John 13:16-17 NKJV
And there it is: The blessing. And how did it come? From a heart of serving others. So in a practical sense, how does this look? Do you serve your family? Your church? Your community? Those you see in need that surround you every day? Jesus did. He served His family by loving them and leading them in purity and holiness. He didn’t let their unbelief affect His love for them, or affect His continuing to press forward in His calling.

Many think that they must ONLY serve their family by meeting their practical needs. But that is not the example of Jesus. He led them into a different realm by being obedient to His Father. He loved them. He made sure His mother was taken care of. But He served her and His brothers best by living a life that showed them that His Father’s will was the priority of His life. If we lead our family by just accommodating what they think we should do, or imposing their value system above the Father’s, we have not become a good servant to them. To serve them properly, we must always be leading them to the heart of God. We must be careful not do this with a spirit of religion. We must not think we are better. God forbid. That is the opposite of what Jesus portrayed. We must lead them to surrender. Lead them by keeping prayer vitally important. Serve them by showing them a heart of obedience.

Jesus served the Church by standing up in the synagogue and reading the Scriptures under the anointing that released new revelation. He did that by serving His disciples. He did that by going around and doing good. He went to those that considered themselves the Church (the religious leaders of the day). He went to those that were going to introduce the new and better covenant (His disciples). And He continually reproduced. He served the community by going to those that were hungry and thirsty, who listened to Him for days as He unveiled truth from mountain tops, from boats, standing by a well or on a dusty roadway. This is how greatness looks. This is doing exploits. To go up, we must keep our hearts searching for opportunities to serve all, by doing good for all.

Dear Lord, please examine my heart and if there is any form of pride, or unwillingness to do that which You would do for others, please forgive me and cleanse me. Please help me be aware of opportunities to serve and to show Your love. Help me to keep Your priorities as my priorities, and use me, Lord, as I desire to no longer live just surviving, but thriving by your Spirit. Help me to help others and open doors of opportunity to show them Your love, Jesus. Thank You for demonstrating the Father’s heart to me. Help me represent You properly on the earth that Your name will be glorified.
