2017 Fasting Guide – Day Eighteen

Jesus was always equipping His disciples. The ones that walked with Him then, and the ones that would walk with Him, like you and I. He continually modeled how we are to live our lives, so we must see what He went out of His way to do. He went to those who needed to see and experience love, acceptance and forgiveness.

15 Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi's house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, "How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?" 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance." - Mark 2:15-17 NKJV

He wanted people to know His heart. He went to where they were. He treated everyone with love because He wanted them to know His Father’s love as well as His power. People didn’t understand; they wanted to accuse Him for hanging with the wrong people. But He was the influencer. He went to them and kept His purpose before Him. He didn’t become like them. He kept His eyes on the prize … repentance was His goal, so they would be reconciled to God. He demonstrated His love to the people who led ordinary lives. And He demonstrated the power of the Kingdom of God in His everyday life. He healed the broken-hearted. He healed the sick and diseased. And He poured His wisdom, His desires and His power into those who would carry it forward. He wanted His disciples to operate the same as He did, so He called them, He appointed them and He anointed them.

13 And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. 14 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, 15 and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons: - Mark 3:13-15 NKJV

He hasn’t changed His mind, and YOU and I can also operate in this same power and love. He has appointed us and anointed us, and He has sent us with His power. We won’t be able to do what He has called us to do if we don’t maintain our relationship with the Father. Jesus modeled that also. He always maintained His close relationship with the Father. He didn’t let others’ needs keep Him away from seeking God as His first priority.

35 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. 36 And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. 37 When they found Him, they said to Him, "Everyone is looking for You." - Mark 1:35-37 NKJV

Seeking the Father’s heart isn’t something we should do because we want to do something to show we are spiritual. We must seek the Father because we love Him. We must maintain a relationship with Him, because we want to experience His wonderful presence over and over again. Jesus didn’t allow anyone to dictate where He was going or what He was doing, EXCEPT His Father. He was always about His FATHER’S business. Not His own. We must maintain our desire for Him, and keep Him as the priority in our lives if we are going to enjoy the amazing results that it brings to our lives and through our lives for others. We serve an amazing God. He deserves our attention, our affection and our praise. Jesus kept the message going.

38 But He said to them, "Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth." 39 And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons. - Mark 1:38-39 NKJV
Jesus told the truth and He lived the truth. He knew who He was and He knew what He was here for. But, do you? God sent His Son, not just to die for us, but to live again and equip us to be able to be just as much of a light to the darkness in this world. We are to bring miracles. He wants us to continue to spread the good news, and share the wealth of knowing Him. The effect it has against the strongholds of the enemy will show the reality that our God reigns! And more importantly, He reigns inside of us! That is why we are limitless! That is why we are powerful! That is why we walk in victory and we bring His love and power to others.

Let’s pray:
Father God, I believe You have made me in Your image and Your likeness. I believe Jesus is my example of how I am to operate in this life. And that means I can spread the good news, cast out devils, heal the sick and raise the dead. I don’t want to live below the blood line anymore. I know that You have made me to live a limitless life with the power of the Holy Spirit. So forgive me for not trusting You for this, but today, during this fast, I am putting my confidence back in You. In the power You have invested in me. And TODAY I will reach out to do something I haven’t done before in the supernatural realm because You are a supernatural God. Hallelujah!
